This year’s must-attend 4th Annual Fundraising Dinner will be held on April 21st, 2012 at North Bellevue Community Center in Bellevue, Washington.
The theme of the event will be “Breaking Barriers, Building a Future” and the Keynote Speaker will be Ms. Tri Mumpuni, an Indonesian activist and an Eisenhower Fellow who received the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2011 for helping rural villages run hydropower plants. In 2010, she attended the Presidential Summit with President Barack Obama on Entrepreneurship where in his speech, President Obama stated, “And we’ve got social entrepreneurs like Tri Mumpuni, who has helped rural communities in Indonesia harness the electricity and revenues of hydro-power.”
This yearly event serves as the Foundation’s primary way of raising much-needed funds to support our mission. In our inaugural year, we offered scholarships to 44 children from elementary to high school levels and we are currently providing financial aid to 134 students from 13 regions in Indonesia. More than IDR 750 million ($88,500) has been used to finance our program in the last four years.
