On Sunday, August 5, 2018, a deadly 7.0-magnitude earthquake rocked the island of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), just a week after a 6.4-magnitude quake hit the same area. As of Monday evening, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has recorded at least 98 deaths and 236 injuries. Thousands of buildings were damaged and an estimated 20,000 people were displaced as a result of the quake. Many people remain in shelters afraid to return home.
