Serbabelawan Disaster Relief Program

Several days of heavy rains triggered flash floods damaging several homes, places of worship, school buildings and other public facilities in Serbelawan village, Simalungun District, in the Province of North Sumatra. The rising floodwaters reached 3 meters high and came very quickly, not allowing people to save their belongings. More than 100 homes were reported as flooded or affected and 444 people were displaced from the village.

CERDAS Foundation collaborated with The School Projects, a local non-profit organization in North Sumatra, in sending aid of IDR 30 millions to provide support and relief to those impacted by the disasters. On Sunday, January 21, 2018, packages of 10 kgs of rice, 2 kgs of sugar, 2 liters of cooking oil, a pack of tea, a can of milk, and a pack of bread were distributed to 121 families in Pasar Bawah, Serbabelawan village by The School Projects team.
